An opening prayer:

    Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
    Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
    Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
    God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!

    Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
    Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
    Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
    Who was, and is, and evermore shall be.

    Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
    Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
    Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
    Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

John 16:12–15

  • I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

Good news questions

  • Jesus is so selfless: He will die for us all the next day. But he concentrates on his disciples and their fears.
  • He promises the Eleven again to send them his Spirit. The Spirit will glorify Jesus by all that he tells the apostles. 
  • What are your favorite promises which the Spirit told the apostles to share with us? How can you share your hope with others?
